"Mini Camp 2008"
GHS offensive & defensive pre-season football camp
Footballs fill the air again! At least in Greendale they are... The Greendale High School coaching staff have just finished holding their annual pre-season mini camp designed to not only familiarize all the players to their offense and defense, but to dust off some of those skills needed to play the game. The mini camp lasted four days and was open to all high school players who are planning on playing football this fall for the Panthers. Each of the high school coaches were also in attendance.
This year, the camp drew just shy of 100 participants. They were taught new drills pertaining to the various positions along with the terminology that will be used for both the offense and defense this year. Of course you couldn't have a football practice without a little conditioning either.
The clinic camp was ran from July 28th through the 31st and was held in the afternoon at the varsity practice field. Each day started at 3:00 and ended at 7:30 in the evening. The cost for this camp is $20.00 per athlete.
"I would say the excitement is high," said Head Coach Rob Stoltz. "A couple of things are contributing to that. You have the love for the game, the overall success of the program, and of course when these kids look over their shoulder towards the main field, they see dust flying for they all know that this year they will be playing on a brand new turf field. Ok... I'm excited too! The official practice season starts August 12th!
